This year, Capitainer’s microsampling technology continued to support cutting-edge research across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Selected for SWECON, a major Swedish concussion study in elite handball, enabling on-site biomarker sampling during the season
- Growing adoption in Alzheimer’s research, with SEP10 featured in international research and public awareness initiatives
- Increasing use in addiction research, including the COMIT, PAC, and Spectrum studies
- Participation in large-scale lead exposure studies in both the U.S. and the UK
- Active role in EU-funded collaborations such as UTI-Diag and SusFE, pushing the boundaries of diagnostics, sustainability, and smart sampling
🏥 Decentralized Care – From Policy to Practice
2025 marked a clear shift from pilots to real-world implementation.
- Multiple Swedish healthcare regions adopted Capitainer’s home sampling solution to support decentralized care
- Life Genomics launched Sweden’s first IVDR-compliant TSH home sampling service, based on Capitainer technology
- Expanded applications across diabetes, thyroid disease, prostate cancer detection, and preventive screening
- Demonstrated how self-sampling can improve access, reduce burden on healthcare systems, and empower patients
🧪 Portfolio Expansion & Product Milestones
Our product portfolio took several important steps forward this year.
- Capitainer®DIP70 launched, expanding self-sampling beyond blood and plasma to standardized dried urine sampling
- SEP10 updated, CE-marked and FDA Class I registered, strengthening its role in plasma-based biomarker research
- SKUP evaluation confirmed performance of Capitainer®B10 for HbA1c testing, demonstrating repeatability and user-friendliness
- Continued development toward automation and scalable workflows through collaboration with BSD Robotics
Together, our blood, plasma, and urine devices now offer a complete solution for decentralized sampling.
🌍 Global Growth & Community
Capitainer continued to grow – both globally and as a team.
- A strengthened Board of Directors was appointed to support the next phase of international expansion
- Our U.S. laboratory miQro Lab Solutions hosted partners and collaborators at the miQro Mingle in Rhode Island
- We welcomed new colleagues and deepened collaborations across Europe and North America
Met the community at key events including ADLM (Chicago), AAIC (Toronto), and regional conferences across the Nordics
🏆 Recognition & Momentum
One of the year’s proudest moments was receiving the Medtech4Health Innovation Award 2025, recognizing Capitainer’s contribution to more accessible, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare.
