🧠 Webinar: Evidence vs adoption in PKU monitoring
The PCSIG is hosting an upcoming webinar focused on PKU monitoring and the gap between evidence and clinical implementation.
The session features invited speaker Rachel Carling, Director of Biochemical Sciences at Synnovis.
The webinar will explore current challenges in dried blood spot (DBS) testing for phenylalanine and tyrosine, and highlight evidence-based approaches to improve sample quality and reduce variability. It will also cover the patient perspective and the practical barriers to adopting new sampling solutions in clinical practice.

🧪 New application note – Empagliflozin (TDM)
In collaboration with SCIEX, Capitainer has supported the development of a new technical note demonstrating quantitation of empagliflozin using 10 µL dried blood spot samples from Capitainer®B10.
The method shows high sensitivity and robust performance, supporting applications in therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM).
This work builds on previous collaborations within microsampling and LC-MS/MS, further demonstrating how volumetric microsampling can be integrated into established analytical workflows. Read more here.
🔬 Our Technology – A different approach to DBS
If we say:
• hematocrit levels
• spot size
• punch location
…you probably know what we’re referring to.
In traditional DBS, laboratories analyze a punched area rather than a defined sample volume. The actual volume can therefore vary from sample to sample.
Capitainer was built to address exactly this and we’ve updated our technology page, where you can explore this in more detail.
🪄 A small change – with a clear purpose
Capitainer B50 is getting a new color this spring – shifting from pink to purple.
All our devices have their own distinct color, and this update brings B50 in line with the rest of the portfolio.
Nothing else changes: same precision, same performance, same quality.
